How time flies….
Yesterday I was thinking something happened on an april 11th in the past but it kept escaping me.

Anyways,

Can you remember how exited we all were, two years ago, when a reader on WFT found a tiny version of the picture posted today.  Austin back after an absence of many months?

Last year we had an exceptionally good Austin year, with the promotion for JFC and later the show on TV, interviews and so on, FNL and the Informers.

This year has been good so far quality wise, not quantity wise. What will the next months bring? Will Austin be MIA again until the promotion for The informers starts? Will another project be announced soon? Who knows ….

What I hope is that this post evokes some more unexpected Austin pictures or sightings, to keep our fire burning.

I can hope , can't I  ;)

Do you remember a couple of years ago, when Austin was still very much a mystery to most of us, it was frequently discussed how he was often typecast as the wealthy, snotty, uptight higher class young man with a difficult character, who in the end lost the girl to the real hero of the movie.

Our assessment was based on the two movies we knew the best, The Day After Tomorrow and Wimbledon.

Now we know him a tiny bit better, we should ask ourselves the same question? Is he often typecast? Is he always playing the same role?

I made a comparison.

Rich man,
poor man

Witty or nuts

The Good, the Bad, ...

 The son of wealthy parents

 Sweet and witty

 Sweet and good

 A poor
student

 Witty

 Bad, bad boy

 Again a poor   student

 Both and
not an
alcoholic,
yet!

 Good?
In the end
he was

 Ahwww...
Wealthy

 Witty,
member
of the quiz team

 Good
No doubt about it

 A rich bastard

To get to Wimbledon he could have not been stupid

 Bad, a bad loser too

The excentric heir of a family fortune

 Witty, though not healthy

Obsessed - well it is a horror movie

 Filthy rich and bored

 Witty

 Good or bad?
The discussion still continues

 Poor white
guy

Not the brightest one of the bunch

 Good

A well to do film student

 Intelligent
Even Horatio had to let him go.

 Bad to the bone.

 Poor, I guess...

 NUTS!

Difficult to put a lable on

Didn't have any money but could produce it in an instant

 He was John

 We will probably never know...

 A teacher

 A teacher

 A teacher

What's the conclusion? Typecast or not?

 Ahhh…. The Day After Tomorrow….

We tend to forget that The Day after Tomorrow is a disaster movie. Most of us are also oblivious of the fact that the scenes we like to watch represent maybe 1/10th or even less of the movie. If I would ask everybody who at one time used the fast forward when watching TDAT to raise their hands, how many hands do you think are raised?

What can I post that  has not already been posted before? That has not already been discussed or dissected? There’s enough material on the internet to post until the end of the year or maybe even longer.

Why not make an interactive post. Just let me know your favourite scene, your favourite picture. Anything you want to get out off you system about TDAT.

First its my turn: The Golden ratio or the Golden Cut

This is the most intriguing picture.

Click for larger

Why?
Everybody is watching the camera. Austin, with a pout, is looking at Jake.
Everybody is wearing a headdress, except for Jake and Austin.
Although Jake is on the foreground, the main focus of the picture is on Austin. The reason for that is the photographer used the Golden Ratio in his composition. Austin is on the intersection of both horizontal and vertical Golden Ratio lines.

Any idea why the photographer did that?
Feedback is very much appreciated!

My own little movie

Golden Ratio:  In mathematics and the arts, two quantities are in the golden ratio if the ratio between the sum of those quantities and the larger one is the same as the ratio between the larger one and the smaller. The golden ratio is approximately 1.6180339887.

Do you recognize this situation?

You are sitting with a bunch of friend, having a drink, listening to music, talking about movies.
The conversation runs smoothly. You're talking about everyone's old favourites, prequels and sequals and the point of it all, and that you prefered the original. You talk about the new discovery someone made, who are the best newcomers, which one awaits the biggest future...

It gets later in the evening and a male friend declares that without any doubt the Italian actrice Monicca Belucci is the most beautiful woman in the world. A female friend immediately offers Johnny Depp, however not in his Jump Street days.

Another friend cuts in saying Johnny is too feminine; Daniel Craig, that's a real man. When it's your turn, you tell them you recently discovered a very handsome and cute guy, you think the world of, Austin Nichols.

"Austin, who? Never heard of him", somebody says, showing no interest.

"Just wait a second", you ask and put on a CSI Miami or JFC DVD.

At this same moment the noise stops and they all start looking at one another. Shoulders are shrugged and eyebrows raised in astonishment.

"You actually think he's cute? ", the bravest of the bunch finaly asks, "Do you really like HIM?".

And when you admit that you think he's a gorgeous guy, one of your best friends quicky tries to change the subject to spare you from further embarrassment.

Today I'll post a picture to end all discussions.
No one will ever again doubt Austin's sexieness or beauty.
I give you a tip to copy and print the picture. Have it always with you and whenever you meet a doubting Thomas, show him/her the picture as proof.

If you follow my advice, you will surely benefit from it, believe me ;)

I promised to tell why I think the picture in the previous post was Photoshopped.

Therefore I made a collage of pictures from Austin and one of his co-stars in Glory Road, Mehcad Brooks.
As you will notice in the first three picture the size of their heads is quite similar, as is the size of their ears (not the shape).

Now look at the fourth picture: Austin's head is a lot larger.

It's my guess that an outdoor (on the red carpet) Austin, without his knowledge, is dragged inside to fit into the after party pictures.
I admit, maybe I am seeing ghosts.

Now look for yourself.

PS. In picture three it looks like again an outdoor Austin was used. The colours don't match.
And now I will stop writing about this subject.

At almost the same time Austin was rumoured dating Izabella Miko (february 2006) other rumours had him dating Sophia Bush.

Remember their romantic stroll on the beach?

Furthermore Sophia was present on the premiere of Glory Road.

What do you think?

Is the next picture proof of their blossoming love-affair or is it Photoshopped as well
or am I imagining things?

Before you answer, first take a look at Sophia’s left arm.

Although she is - alleged - in love with Austin, she’s holding Mehcad Brooks.

And what is wrong with Austin’s head and ears?

On the comments section a nice reader informed me that Austin was recently spot in an LA store ordering a gay movie that was suggested to him.

That made my day! Aren’t we all big fans of gay movies? Well I am anyway.

If Austin should ever visit this LJ (off course he won’t) I would like to propose to him some of my all time favourite gay movies. My husband, who’s a film-freak, tells me to include anything by Derek Jarman.

So here it goes (warning Male Nudity):

On the third place: SEBASTIANE by Derek Jarman, because I listen to my hubby.

On the second place: VELVET GOLDMINE by Todd Haynes

On the first place (without any competition): SATYRICON by Federico Fellini

Please let me know what your favourite movies are.

New post on Austin in CSI, coming soon.
